Lisa Knudsen, LPC, CADCII

Lisa Knudsen, LPC, CADCII, brings over 20 years of experience working with addiction recovery, grief, and loss to her practice at Newberg Counseling & Wellness. Trained as a family therapist, Lisa brings compassion, candor, humor, and confidence to her sessions, offering clients a safe space where they can tell all of their stories. Her extensive time spent working with alcohol and drug treatment at the Hazelden-Betty Ford Rehab program in Newberg gave her the experience to help clients handle difficult situations around substance abuse, and her other areas of speciality include couples therapy and work with families.

Counseling Methods and Specialties

Lisa’s counseling methods include role play, meditation, action methods, and grounding exercises to help clients access their own strengths, and her 100+ hours of training in psychodrama allows her to use that technique as well to teach clients to connect with their emotional lives and inherent wisdom. Lisa also leads group therapy sessions, particularly to facilitate healing from grief and loss. “I believe grief work is one of the most important and sacred undertakings of our lives,” Lisa says, “as it frees us to move toward hope, joy, and gratitude.”

“Our job is not to deny the story, but to defy the ending—to rise strong, recognize our story, and rumble with the truth until we get to a place where we think, Yes this is what happened. And I will choose where the story ends.” -Brené Brown
