Rebecca Leineweber, LCSW

Rebecca brings compassionate, client-centered therapy to individuals and families in Oregon. She characterizes her work this way: “I believe my role as a therapist is to help you untangle the ‘knots’ in life created by relationships, life transitions, loneliness, social discrimination, medical trauma, religious trauma, or difficult childhood experiences.”

Therapeutic approaches

Rebecca uses a variety of talk therapy approaches and art based on the needs of her clients: Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy. As a part of your counseling experience, Rebecca aims to provide relief from the overwhelming nature of life, to help you add coping tools to your toolbox, and to strengthen social support in your own community.

“I believe clients are the experts in their own lives and that you hold the strength you need to make the positive changes they want to see. My role is to highlight those strengths that may have been buried under years of stress, disappointment, and trauma.”

Specialty areas

Rebecca has been practicing as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for over ten years and a community social worker for fifteen years. She enjoys working with teens (ages 10+) and young adults as they navigate the pressures of becoming independent, helping them work through the tensions that may occur throughout that process. Work with teens might include parent support, family therapy, and individual therapy. Rebecca specializes in supporting clients with anxiety, chronic depression, personality disorders, PTSD, and relationship conflict. “I enjoy working with people who feel like an ‘outsider.'”

Rebecca believes everyone deserves a space to feel safe and supported. She welcomes LBGTQ clients (youth, adults, families) and clients of color from a variety of racial and cultural backgrounds.

Rebecca moved to Portland, Oregon in 2008 to complete her Masters of Social Work from Portland State University. After one year in the PNW, she knew she had found her forever home. Rebecca enjoys doing art and baking with her two daughters, watching 90s action movies with her partner, and reading crime novels with her two dogs and two cats snoozing away close by.  Her coping strategies involve lots of Stumptown coffee, late night cake baking, and talking to her sisters on the phone while deep cleaning the house.

Rebecca is able to take YCCO (OHP) and Providence insurance in network and is currently credentialing with Kaiser Permanente, PacificSource, Regence Blue and Cross Blue Shield, and Aetna. She is also happy to provide sessions at the private pay rate for individuals and families.
